Pediatrics A form of disease progression that occurs in infants who reach normal developmental milestones in the 1st few months or years of life, slows to a 'plateau' and then begins inexorable deterioration until death in early childhood; PD is typical of children with AIDS, Tay-Sachs disease, and certain 'floppy infant' syndromes.
