plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) test

a blood test to determine the level of PAI-1. Increased levels are indicative of acute coronary syndrome, coronary artery disease, restenosis after coronary angioplasty, infection, inflammation, trauma, type 1 diabetes, insulin resistance syndrome, or pregnancy. Decreased levels are indicative of bleeding disorders.
