plantar grasp reflex

a reflex characterized by the flexion of the toes when the sole of the foot is stroked gently. It is present in infants at birth but should disappear after 6 weeks.

A grasp reflex resulting from gentle stimulation of the sole of the foot. This reflex lasts from birth until age 10 months. Synonym: sole reflex
