1. a dark viscous residue from distillation of tar and other substances.
2. any of various bituminous substances such as natural asphalt.
3. a resin from the sap of some coniferous trees.
4. the quality of sound dependent principally on its frequency.

Q. What causes high pitch ringing in one ear?

A. Many people have a ringing in their ears and there they never figure out what it is caused by. In my personal case, the ringing in my ears went away after I was treated for extreme anemia (treated with Iron).
