drug class: miotic, cholinergicc agonist;
action: acts directly on cholinergic receptor sites; induces miosis, spasm of accommodation, fall in intraocular pressure;
uses: primary glaucoma, early stages of wide-angle glaucoma; also used to neutralize mydriatics used during eye examination. Also taken internally for non-drug-induced xerostomia such as Sjögren's syndrome and head and neck cancer patients.
