urachus a fetal canal connecting the bladder with the allantois via the navel. It mostly disappears in the neonatal period although a nipple-like projection may remain on the bladder and in some species a cord may persist along the cranial border of the median ligament of the bladder. persistent urachus failure of the urachus to obliterate at birth so that urine dribbles from it continuously.
