perirenal /peri·re·nal/ (-re´n'l) perinephric. perirenal around the kidney. perirenal edema an exaggeration around the kidney of generalized subserous edema; seen only in pigs and cattle. feline perirenal cysts uni- or bilateral accumulations of fluid in cystlike masses (pseudocysts) between the renal parenchyma and capsule or entirely extracapsular occur in aged, male cats causing a progressive abdominal enlargement, but not usually renal dysfunction. Called also perinephritic pseudocyst, renal capsular cyst, capsulogenic renal cyst, perirenal hygroma, capsular hydronephrosis and retroperitoneal perirenal cyst. |
