pennyroyal oil an aromatic extract of several mint plants, particularly Mentha pulegium and M. canadensis. Sometimes used as an insecticide or insect repellent on dogs and cats, but can be a cause of poisoning, particularly in cats, with signs that include panting, dyspnea and abortion.
