Pediculus /Pe·dic·u·lus/ (pĕ-dik´u-lus) a genus of lice. P. huma´nus, a species feeding on human blood, is a major vector of typhus, trench fever, and relapsing fever; it has two subspecies: P. huma´nus cap´itis (head louse) found on the scalp hair, and P. huma´nus cor´poris (body, or clothes, louse) found on the body. pediculus /pe·dic·u·lus/ (pĕ-dik´u-lus) pl. pedic´uli [L.] 1. louse. 2. pedicle.
