A descriptive term for any bosselated, rugose surface, usually of the skin with deep, pin-point dimpling, likened by French authors to an orange's skin; the 'classic' peau d'orange change occurs in the skin overlying breast CA Ophthalmology A funduscopic finding corresponding to diffuse, rugose hyperpigmentation of the retinal epithelium in angioid streaks Skin Peau d'orange-like changes of the skin are classically seen in advanced ductal CA of breast or the highly aggressive inflammatory CA, in which there is subcutaneous 'puckering' accompanied by dermal edema, desmoplastic induration, superficial bossellation, erythema, local tenderness ±ulceration
