injury sustained during birth, to the neonate or to the dam, not necessarily restricted to the birth canal or even the reproductive system, e.g. hip dislocation.
parturient paresis
see periparturient hypocalcemia.
parturient recumbency
recumbency in a female that has just borne young. May be due to hypocalcemia, toxemia, physical injury or to being unable to find suitable footing.
