Etymology: Gk, paroxysmos, irritation; L, nodus, knot; Gk, tachys, fast, kardia, heart a type of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia usually initiated by a premature atrial complex and sustained by an atrioventricular nodal reentry mechanism.
