The glycine amide of para-aminobenzoic acid used in renal function tests.

para-aminohippuric acid
a derivative of para-aminobenzoic acid used to measure the effective renal plasma flow and to determine the functional capacity of the renal tubular excretory mechanism. Called also aminohippuric acid. Abbreviated PAH, PAHA.
