[pan′thənôl] 1 also called pantothenyl alcohol . an alcohol converted in the body to pantothenic acid, a vitamin in the B complex. 2 a viscous liquid derived from pantothenic acid, a member of the vitamin B12 group. panthenol [pan´thĕ-nol] an alcohol oxidized in the body to pantothenic acid; administered as a source of this vitamin. The term is sometimes used specifically for the isomer called dexpanthenol.
