Palisading
A term referring to a monolayer of relatively long cells or organisms arranged loosely perpendicular to a surface and parallel to each other
Microbiology Corynebacterium spp may have a palisading pattern of growth, but are more often are described as being arranged like Chinese characters
Pathology A descriptive term for a light microscopic appearance of elongated and compressed, usually epithelial cells, perpendicular to a surface—e.g., a basement membrane; palisading is classic finding in basal cell carcinoma

palisading crust
alternating horizontal layers of keratin and exudate in a crust or scab.
palisading granuloma
