n.pl flavonoids synthesized from rutin. Has been used in conditions in which improvement of venous tone and capillary stability are required, such as varicose veins, hemorrhoids, venous insufficiency, lymphedema, and edema. Caution is advised for patients who are taking anticoagulant medications. Also called
hydroxyethylrutosides, HERs, or
troxerutin.
