oubain [wäbā′in] a crystalline glycoside derived from the seeds of Strophanthus gratus and the wood of Acocanthera oubaio. It blocks Na+K+ATPase similarly to strophanthin-K and the digitalis glycosides and is often used in pharmacologic studies because of its greater solubility in water. It is used as an arrow poison in Africa. How to thank TFD for its existence?
