oubain
[wäbā′in]
a crystalline glycoside derived from the seeds of Strophanthus gratus and the wood of Acocanthera oubaio. It blocks Na+K+ATPase similarly to strophanthin-K and the digitalis glycosides and is often used in pharmacologic studies because of its greater solubility in water. It is used as an arrow poison in Africa.
