orthovoltage [-vōl′tij] Etymology: Gk, orthos, straight; Count Alessandro Volta the energy range of 100 to 350 kiloelectron volts supplied by some x-ray generators used for radiation therapy. Such generators have been replaced in many health facilities by equipment that operates in the megaelectron volt range.
