α1-Acid glycoprotein; a subgroup of the α1-globulin fraction of blood; increased plasma levels are associated with inflammation.

alpha-1 acid glycoprotein

A 39.5-kD plasma protein of undetermined significance which, like haptoglobin, increases during acute inflammation—i.e., it is an acute-phase reactant. Alpha1AG binds nonspecifically to progesterone and vitamin B12.
