The following correction was printed in the Guardian's Corrections and clarifications column, Wednesday August 20 2008 The word anorexia is derived from the Greek orexis - not as we said, rexia - meaning desire or longing, and the prefix an-, denoting a lack of it.
One team of researchers, headed by Takeshi Sakurai, named the peptides orexin-A and orexin-B (from the Latin word, orexis, meaning "appetite").
