Fisher syndrome

 [fish´er]
a variant of acute idiopathic polyneuritis characterized by areflexia, ataxia, and ophthalmoplegia.

Fisher syndrome

A rare, acute variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome, seen in middle-aged men after a viral upper respiratory tract infection.

Clinical findings
Classically characterised by a triad of clinical findings: post-traumatic cerebellar ataxia, ophthalmoplegia and generalised areflexia. It may be accompanied by myasthenia, respiratory failure, headache, fever, dyspnoea, facial nerve paralysis. 

Prognosis
Generally has a good prognosis, most resolve spontaneously in 3 months; some progress to coma.
