opening /open·ing/ (o´pin-ing) an aperture or open space; anatomic openings may be called aditus, foramen, fossa, hiatus, orifice, or ostium.
aortic opening 
1. the aperture in the diaphragm for passage of the descending aorta.
2. see under orifice.
cardiac opening  the opening from the esophagus into the stomach.
caval opening  foramen venae cavae.
pyloric opening  the opening between the stomach and duodenum.
saphenous opening  see under hiatus.
