an orthodontic anchorage in which the resistance is borne by the top and back of the head and the force is transmitted to the teeth by means of the headgear and heavy elastics connected with attachment on the teeth. anchorage, n 1. the supporting base for orthodontic forces applied to stimulate tooth movement. n 2. the area of application of the reciprocal forces generated when corrective forces are applied to teeth.
