Comparative zoology A pathological increase in sexual drive, which is inducible in experimental male mammals by bilateral lesions in the limbic region, localized in the piriform cortex overlying the amygdala, causing the animals to mount females that are not in estrus, other males, animals of other species, and inanimate objects
