Myristica fragrans; part used: dried seeds; uses: gastrointestinal complaints, analgesic, toothache, nausea, antiemetic, anx-iolytic, depression, antimicrobial, chemoprotective, aphrodisiac; precautions: abortifacient, pregnancy, lactation, children, severe depression, severe anxiety disorders, antidiarrheal medications, MAOI medications, psychotropic medications, toxic in large doses. Also called
mace, macis, muscadier, muskatbaum, myristica, noz moscada, nuez moscada, or
nux moschata.
