NRTI, NARTI, "nuke" AIDS A class of drugs that includes AZT–Retrovir, ddI–Videx, ddC–HIVID, d4T–Zerit, 3TC–Epivir, abacavir–Ziagen; reverse transcriptase is the part of HIV that assembles viral DNA; NRTIs inhibit reverse transcriptase by acting as 'dummy' nucleosides. See AIDS.
