Poisoning with the highly toxic volatile liquid nickel carbonyl, which is a hazard to workers in the nickel industry. The condition features severe weakness, headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. The vapour causes lung OEDEMA with cough, chest pain, rapid breathing and blueness of the skin (cyanosis). Nickel can cause cancer of the nasal passages and sinuses (NASOPHARYNGEAL CARCINOMA).
