Azadirachta indica; parts used: all parts of plant; uses: in Ayurveda, balances kapha and pitta doshas (bitter, astringent, light, pungent), astringent, antimalarial, anxiolytic, CNS depressant, hepatoprotective, immunomodulator, antiinflammatory, antipyretic, purgative, anthelmintic, dental care, antiseptic, insecticide, diabetes mellitus, contraceptive; precautions: pregnancy, lactation, children. Also called
holy tree, Indian lilac, margosa, neem treenim, or
nimba.
