A combustible gas from underground petroleum deposits used for cooking, heating Components Short-chain hydrocarbons–eg, methane, ethane, propane, butane, CO2, N2, H2S Toxicity At high ambient levels, volatile hydrocarbons induce hypoxia by replacing alveolar gas, crossing the alveolar-capillary barrier, causing CNS depression.
