a health professional trained to use music within a therapeutic relationship to address a client's needs, such as facilitating movement and physical rehabilitation, motivating the client to cope with treatment, providing emotional support, and providing an outlet for expressing feelings. A baccalaureate or master's degree and clinical internship are required, after which an individual may take an examination to earn the credential Music Therapist-Board Certified.
