mummification /mum·mi·fi·ca·tion/ (mum″ĭ-fĭ-ka´shun) the shriveling up of a tissue, as in dry gangrene, or of a dead, retained fetus.
mummification [mum′ifikā′shən] Etymology: Per, mum, wax; L, facere, to make a dried-up state, such as occurs in dry gangrene or a dead fetus in utero. mummification conversion to a dehydrated state; commonly said of a fetus.
