Etymology: Per, mum, wax; L, facere, to make
a dried-up state, such as occurs in dry gangrene or a dead fetus in utero.

mummification
conversion to a dehydrated state; commonly said of a fetus. The soft tissues are very much reduced in volume, the skin is leathery and the tissues are deeply brown-stained.
