Motor fibers originate from motor neurons that are located in the spinal cord.
For example, when there's a stroke in the internal capsule, it might interrupt sensory fibers, motor fibers, and fibers involved in other functions, all running very close to one another.
As with any facial nerve surgery, the facial motor fibers must be handled delicately so that the remaining motor fibers function normally and do not become edematous.
