Halitosis upon awaking due to gas production by bacteria, which multiply because of the mouth’s optimal temperature (37ºC) and quasi-anaerobic state while asleep.Diagnosis
Autodiagnosis, halimetry, gas chromatography, BANA test, beta-galactosidease test.
Management
Usually transient and responds to mouthwash, brushing the teeth and tongue, and flossing.
