Case history Patient B, a 54-year-old female, presented to the emergency department in June 2006 with a moist cough and coinciding chest pain, and possible jaundice.
Swallowing becomes painful, a nasal discharge commences and a moist cough is evident accompanying this.
When the mitral valve, on the left side of the heart, is abnormal, fluid will build up in the lungs, causing a moist cough.
