mitotic activity index

A measure of tumour cell proliferation, which is an independent prognostic factor in breast cancer, soft tissue sarcomas and other cancers, and usually determined by the number of mitotic figures per 10 high-power fields. The cutoffs for the number of mitoses/10 HPF for each prognostic group depends on the malignancy.
