mini-PAT Miniature peer assessment tool. An evaluation tool designed to assess how a specialist trainee is viewed by his or her co-workers, providing a so-called “collage view.” The mini-PAT is comprised of a self-assessment by a junior doctor/trainee and the collated ratings from a range of the trainee’s co-workers. It was derived from the Sheffield Peer Review Assessment Tool (SPRAT), shortened based on content validity related to a particular curriculum and contextualised to the specific training environment. The rated mini-PAT competencies map to those defined by General Medical Council’s document Good Medical Practice and to the core objectives of a Royal College’s curriculum (e.g., the Intercollegiate Surgical Curriculum). The GMC has identified peer assessment as suitable for both postgraduate training and revalidation.
