milliliter (ml) [-lē′tər] Etymology: L, mille + Fr, litre, a measure a metric unit of volume that is one thousandth (10-3) of a liter, or 1 cm3. milliliter (miˈ·l n a metric unit of measure defined as one thousandth (.001) of a liter and written as ml. See also liter. milliliter (ml) (mil´ilē´tur), n the preferred unit of volume used in prescription writing. It is based on the fundamental unit, the liter. One liter equals 1000 milliliters.
