mid·dle car·di·ac vein

vein that begins at the apex of the heart (where it anastomoses with the great cardiac vein), and ascends within the posterior interventricular sulcus to the coronary sinus.

middle cardiac vein

one of the five tributaries of the coronary sinus that drain blood from the capillary bed of the myocardium. It starts at the apex of the heart, rises in the posterior interventricular sulcus, receives tributaries from both ventricles, and ends in the right extremity of the coronary sinus. Compare great cardiac vein, small cardiac vein.

mid·dle car·di·ac vein

(mid'dĕl kahr'dē-ak vān) [TA]
Begins at the apex of the heart, anastomoses with the great cardiac vein, and ascends within the posterior interventricular sulcus to the coronary sinus.

middle cardiac vein

A large vein that runs in the posterior interventricular groove of the heart; it accompanies the posterior interventricular artery, and both vein and artery drain the same territory. The middle cardiac vein empties into the coronary sinus.
