an adrenergic vasopressor.
indications It is prescribed in the treatment of hypotension and shock.
contraindications Known hypersensitivity to this drug prohibits its use. It is not used with the MAO inhibitors cyclopropane or halothane anesthesia or as the sole drug for hypovolemic hypotension.
adverse effects Among the more serious adverse effects are cardiac arrhythmia, tissue necrosis at the site of injection, hypertension, tremors, and nausea.
