metaraminol /meta·ram·i·nol/ (-ram´ĭ-nol) a sympathomimetic agent acting mainly as an α-adrenergic agonist but also stimulating the β1-adrenergic receptors of the heart and having potent vasopressor activity; used as the bitartrate salt in the treatment of certain hypotensive states.
metaraminol [met″ah-ram´ĭ-nol]
a sympathomimetic agent acting mainly as an α-adrenergic agonist but also stimulating the β1-adrenergic receptors of the heart and having potent vasopressor activity; administered intravenously, intramuscularly, or subcutaneously as the bitartrate salt for prevention and treatment of acute hypotensive states.

metaraminol
a noncatecholamine symphathomimetic amine, active at peripheral α-receptors; used as the bitartrate for its pressor effects in the treatment of shock.
