metaproterenol /meta·pro·ter·e·nol/ (met″ah-pro-ter´ĕ-nol) a β agonist with significant β activity, used in the form of the sulfate salt as a bronchodilator. metaproterenol a bronchodilator indicated in treatment of bronchial asthma, reversible bronchospasm of bronchitis, and emphysema.
