freckle /freck·le/ (frek´'l) a pigmented spot on the skin due to accumulation of melanin resulting from exposure to sunlight. melanotic freckle of Hutchinson lentigo maligna.
freckle Etymology: ME, freken a brown or tan macule on the skin that results from exposure to sunlight. There is an inherited tendency to freckling, and it is most frequently seen in persons with red hair.
