megaloureter [meg′əlōyoo͡rē′tər] Etymology: Gk, megas + oureter, ureter an abnormal condition characterized by marked dilation of one or both ureters, resulting from dysfunctional peristaltic action of the smooth muscle in the ureters. Treatment may include surgical resection. Also called megaureter. megaureter congenital dilatation of the ureter; it may be either a primary condition or secondary to something else. Called also megaloureter.
