Etymology: Gk, megas + kystis, bag
an abnormal condition primarily affecting girls, characterized by an enlarged and thin-walled bladder. Surgical reduction of the size of the bladder or diversion of urine through the ileum may correct the condition. Also called megabladder, megacystis.

megacystis

Enlargement of the urinary bladder. Megacystis is a characteristic finding in Berdon syndrome (megacystis-microcolon-intestinal hypoperistalsis syndrome).
