medial calcaneal nerve

a nerve that is often multiple and originates from the tibial nerve near the ankle and descends onto the medial side of the heel. It innervates skin on the medial surface and sole of the heel.

The osteotomy is started with a power saw and finished with an osteotome as usual, both perpendicular to the bony surface, in order to avoid injuries to the contralateral tibial posterior artery (7) and branches of medial calcaneal nerve.
