Mastigophora /Mas·ti·goph·o·ra/ (mas″tĭ-gof´o-rah) a subphylum of Protozoa comprising those having one or more flagella throughout most of their life cycle, and a simple, centrally located nucleus; many are parasitic in both invertebrates and vertebrates, including humans.

a subphylum of protozoa, including all those that have one or more flagella throughout most of their life cycle, and a simple, centrally located nucleus; many are parasitic in both invertebrates and vertebrates, including humans.

Mastigophora
n a subphylum of sarcomastigophora con-sisting of parasitic protozoa, also called flagellates. Causes diseases such as enteritis, urethritis, vaginitis, and Chagas' disease by drinking contaminated water, contact with vaginal discharge, and through bug bite.

Included are the Kinetoplastida (e.g. Trypanosoma), Diplomonadina (e.g. Hexamita) and Trichomonadida (e.g. Trichomonas).
