Manometer
A device used to measure fluid pressure.

manometer
(mnom´itr),
n a device for measuring the pressure of a fluid, consisting of a tube marked with a scale and containing a relatively incompressible fluid, such as mercury. The level of the fluid in the tube varies directly with the pressure of the fluid being measured. They are used to measure blood pressure.

manometer
an instrument for ascertaining the pressure of gases or liquids, particularly blood pressure. See also sphygmomanometer.

aneroid manometer
provides direct measurement of mean arterial blood pressure through a catheter placed in a peripheral artery.
