mammillitis mamillitis thelitis; inflammation of the nipple. bovine herpes mammillitis mamillitis an infectious ulcerative dermatitis of the teats and udder of cows, caused by bovine herpesvirus 2 (BHV-2). The same virus also causes the Allerton form of lumpy skin disease. Spread between herds may be by insect vector.
