grand mal (grahn) see under epilepsy. mal de Meleda (dĕ mel´ĕ-dah) a chronic, inherited, symmetrical hyperkeratosis of the palms and soles with spreading to their dorsal aspects and to other parts of the body; cutaneous lesions are erythematous, scaling, malodorous, and fissured. petit mal (pĕ-te´) see under epilepsy.
