magainin

A peptide, originally found in the skin of the African clawed frog, which has antimicrobial activity.

magainin

Any of a family of  peptide antibiotics with antibacterial and antiparasitic activities, originally extracted from the skin of Xenopus laevis (African clawed frog), which have a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses. A magainin derivative, pexiganan, is in phase-3 trials for diabetic ulcers.
